[Translation] Mina March 2017, Masuda Takahisa – “Massu Styling” Volume 30

This month’s theme is “MA-1”

When I was in middle school the MA-1 bomber jacket was popular and one that I got from my dad was my first. I wore it a lot, but after that it wasn’t trendy for about 10 years and only in the past few years has it come back around to being cool to wear again. It’s said that fashion trends come into popularity, make their round and then come back into popularity once again, and the MA-1 did exactly that. I have a black one from another brand, but I decided to feature this Vetements MA-1 jacket that I have really been into recently. Vetements is a popular brand from Paris that I like and is one of the brands that I have featured in this series many times. The chief designer Demna Gvasalia also designed for Balenciaga, so I am paying more and more attention (to the brand) recently!

The silhouette of the jacket matches with todays trends by  just by putting it on and wearing it in my usual rough style because it is oversized. Surprisingly, I actually like the khaki color that is easy to style with anything. I originally wanted to style it with a grey sweat-material hoodie, but when I looked in my closet these grey sweatpants totally just popped out at me to use, so I chose them! You can’t see it very well, but the shirt under the jacket is a Twiggy graphic T-shirt. My neck was bare, so I added a silver necklace as an accent. Even paired with thinner pants than these, there is a nice balance!

*Disclaimer* I am still actively learning Japanese and this translation is not perfect. This translation is as direct of a translation as I can make it and I took some liberties as a native English speaker to make it flow better in English, as some things don’t translate well into English from Japanese.
