Nail Salons and Nail Art in Japan

Getting my nails done in Japan is one of my favorite things to do. More specifically a manicure with nail art. It’s one of my little pieces of joy to see my nails nice and manicured and it makes me feel so put together in most situations. I first started getting manicures when I was a young girl, but it wasn’t until I came to Japan that I really did “Nail Art”. Even then, I didn’t do it on a consistent basis, but since I started working I find it a nice little splurge every month to get my nails … Continue reading Nail Salons and Nail Art in Japan

Working in a Japanese Company: Part 4 – Basic Japanese Business Vocabulary You Need to Know

March was the first full month where I was basically handling my job on my own. There were still plenty of things I didn’t fully understand, but each time I repeated my monthly tasks, they made a little more sense. … Continue reading Working in a Japanese Company: Part 4 – Basic Japanese Business Vocabulary You Need to Know

Japanese Fashion: EATME Harajuku Store Grand Opening – October 26th, 2014

On October 26th, I went to the grand opening of EATME, a brand by the famous Model Tsubasa Masuwaka. Tsubasa is best known for being a “Gyaru” model in POPTEEN and POPSISTER Magazines (although has graduated from both) and also has two cosmetic lines, Dolly Wink and Candy Doll. She is also a singer under the persona “Milky Bunny”. Music that Inspires and Moves Me

At the end of August, I entered the final phase of a chapter of my life; the chapter of being a University/ College student. Even during the summer before I entered this phase, I was having difficulties conveying my feelings. The only way I know how to truly release my frustrations and feelings is through listening and relating to music and this blog. So, today I wanted to discuss some songs that have inspired and moved me recently, most of them being Tegomassu songs. テゴマス – 「アイノナカデ」 (Tegomassu – Ai no naka de) When the Tegomassu’s “Tegomassu no Mahou” album came … Continue reading Music that Inspires and Moves Me

“Strawberry Night” J-Drama

Normally I don’t like Japanese police dramas from past experiences of getting bored with them, unless they are a comedy (like Deka Wanko). They just didn’t have as good of a story line or a way to keep me engaged like American ones do. Despite this, I decided to give this one a try because Maruyama Ryuhei from Kanjani8 was in it and I like him as an actor. I dragged my feet for a few weeks before I was able to sit down and try to watch it. I fully intended to just skip to all the parts with Maruyama … Continue reading “Strawberry Night” J-Drama

Diary Post: Goodbyes are Bittersweet – Reflections of the Past 4 Months in Japan

After I have posted this entry I will have been all packed and ready to leave Japan or have gone home.  The last thing I am doing is going to see Wild 7 with two really goods friends on the 21st. What can I say? I hate goodbyes. Everyone does. I really don’t want to say goodbye to this country that has given me some of the best memories of my life and saw me grow as a person. As I am writing this, I am on the Shinkansen going back to Kyoto after being in Tokyo for the Kanjani8 … Continue reading Diary Post: Goodbyes are Bittersweet – Reflections of the Past 4 Months in Japan
